The herbal medicine industry is experiencing robust growth due to a confluence of factors. Plants used for these medicines can accumulate toxic heavy metals from the soil and water from the areas in which they are grown, potentially contaminating the herbal medicine and posing a health risk to consumers. Due to the rising demand for these natural remedies, we have now added the analysis of Metals in Herbal Medicines to our programme.

One of our new range of Virtual PTs, designed to assess an analysts ability to recognise and accurately enumerate presumptive E.coli and coliform colonies and calculate the level of each type in cfu/g in a food from the image and additional information provided such as the food, weight of sample analysed, and the dilution factor for the culture plate image.

In 2024 the EU introduced new maximum limits for T-2, HT-2 and DON (deoxynivalenol) mycotoxins in cereals and cereal products destined for food. Fapas® have provided PTs for Mycotoxins within the Barley Flour matrix for some time, and we have now extended the available analytes to include T-2 and HT-2.
