WW051c17 PAHs in Waste Water

NEW PROFICIENCY TEST

Dispatch 17 June

Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) are persistent organic pollutants and as such these potentially harmful chemicals can build up in the environment and contaminate our water sources. Monitoring waste water may help understand the long-term fate of these chemicals in the environment.

WW051c18 OC Pesticides in Waste Water

Organochlorine (OC) pesticides have been (and still are where permitted) widely used in agriculture Such pesticides entering watercourses from waste water discharge can lead to bioaccumulation in aquatic organisms, disrupting the ecosystem and creating a risk of harm in humans consuming affected species.
